By enabling skills from the Alexa skills stores and Google Home Commands, you can access even more ways to enhance your experience.
You can set up your daily routine and the virtual assistance will walk you through it. Simply say “Alexa, start my day” or “Hey Google, Good Morning.” These voice assistants will tell you the weather, top news for the day, and then play your favorite music or podcasts while you get ready in the morning.
You can use both Amazon and Google products to broadcast between devices in the same house, almost like an intercom system. Just alert your devices to notify all by telling Alexa to “announce” something or having Google “tell everyone”.
If you have your contacts synced within the Alexa app, then you can make calls on your Amazon device anywhere, anytime, and completely hands-free.
You can learn a new language, translate something into a different language, or simply pronunciations. Google Home devices currently know 28 languages and Amazon devices know 30.
Both Amazon and Google devices can help you relax. Just ask Alexa to “help me relax” and tell Google to “help me meditate”.
If you’re forgetful, then tell your Google device to send a reminder to your phone when you reach a certain location; for example, to remind you to buy milk when you arrive at the grocery store.
Alexa can walk you through seven-minute workouts.
You can even make a donation through your Amazon device donation, varying from $5 to $5,000. All you do is tell Alexa that you want to “make a donation” and choose the charity or organization of your choice. There are currently 154 nonprofits that are recognized by Alexa Donations.
